Welcome. I
began my massage career 18 years ago when I enrolled at the
Florida Institute of Natural Health in Gainesville, Florida,
September,1990. Earlier that year, I had graduated from the University
of Arkansas with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling,
resigned my position as a Police
Officer from the City
of Springdale, Arkansas and then flew to
Anchorage, Alaska to start a cross country bicycle trip.
I put my bicycle together at the
airport and rode/camped from there to Minnesota with side
trips to Banff, Jasper and our Glacier National Parks. After
returning to Minnesota, My
son, Jason and I then went on another road/ camping trip to South
Dakato, Colorado and New Mexico, and also to look at Massage
Schools. We toured massage schools in
Boulder, and Sante Fe. I didn't choose those schools but instead
traveled to Florida to enroll at Florida
School of Massage. See :How
I became a massage therapist
to learn more.
Massage Therapy
has been the right vocation for me after trying several other
career paths. I was more interested at that time in athletic massage
and sought that path. I worked with a professional bicycle
team early in my career, as well as several Olympic marathon,
bicycle athletes, swimmers, and track and field
athletes. I have worked with numerous professional
baseball players (primarily from the Devil Rays, and
professional football (primarily Bucs Players) I have worked long
hours in massage for most of my career and currently limit my
massage practice to 6
people each working day. Most
of my clients seek my services for sports massage, relief of acute and chronic
pain, accident recovery, and training for
performance.
My approach is
eclectic in nature and not specific to any one method of
bodywork. I primarily use a blend of structural and postural
evaluation, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release and
assisted stretching (including the Aaron Mattes Method of
active isolated stretching) PNF, deep tissue massage, and
acupressure (Shiatsu) in my bodywork sessions.
I have worked with many
professional and amateur athletes in baseball, football,
basketball, tennis, track and field, swimmers, soccer,
golf, hockey, skating, bicyclists, runners, triathletes,
and other athletes. Even
though I love working with the athlete, I do not
limit my practice to athletes. All are welcome
from the young people to the most senior patient.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
I appreciate the many athletes who come to our clinic. Some
are among the best in the world. I also feel fortunate to live
in Florida where there are so many wonderful days of sunshine
and places available to participate in outdoor activities. I
love to inline skate, run, work
out at the YMCA , and ride my bicycle with the St.
Pete Maddogs and the St.
Petersburg Bicycle Club
and walk my dog, Zac. One of my favorite areas to skate is the Suncoast
Trail north of Tampa, Florida. Vicki and I are
often found there on Sunday. We have some photos of our
adventures posted
here. Hope to see you soon, Travis

People
who are serious about their health and
relationships will walk on the path of
positive thinking, positive feelings, positive
actions and good attitudes. Humor,
thankfulness, happiness, forgiveness,
love, hope, altruism, optimism, joy, peace,
anticipation, patience and cooperation are
some of the fruits found on this path.
The opposite path of negative thinking,
negative feelings, negative actions, and
negative attitudes, leads to great harm
physically, mentally and spiritually. Some of
the fruits of this path are pride,
blame, hate, guilt, greed, shame, judgmental
thinking, envy, revenge, anger, jealousy, self
doubt, fear, depression, pessimism, and the
need to be "right" at all costs.
